Offshore sportfishing from Playa Garza

Playa Garza is one of Costa Rica’s long-established billfish destinations. From Garza Bay, deep water can be reached in about thirty minutes, and trips may run 15 to 18 miles offshore to blue water around 1,500 to 2,000 feet deep.

Techniques include trolling, speed trolling and popping. Possible catches include black marlin, blue marlin, striped marlin, Pacific sailfish, wahoo, mahi-mahi and large yellowfin tuna.

Billfish are released. Edible catch is cleaned and bagged for you, and on full-day trips the crew prepares a fresh homemade lunch on board.

Schedule, meeting point and what to expect

Schedule. Half day 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM, or 1:30 PM to 5:30 PM. Full day 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM.

Meeting point. The beach next to Pilo’s Bar in Playa Garza. Please be there ten minutes early; a water taxi takes you from the beach out to the boat.

Capacity. 1 to 10 guests. The rate is per boat, so the price is the same whether you are two or ten.

Booking. Please book at least 5 days in advance. We reply to booking requests within 1 to 2 business days.

Good to know. Tell us about any food restriction when you book and we will plan the menu around it.

Fishing and wildlife departures leave from the same beach we do and are run together with our partner crew at Nosara Sea Saw Tours.
